CFI and BAFFA lead multi-sectoral meeting in setting up peoples organizations
Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) and the Baldat Fishermen and Farmers Association (BAFFA) conducted a multi-sectoral meeting in Barangay Halsey last June 9, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to organize a People’s Organization (PO) in the area, which will serve as a partner in implementing community-based mangrove rehabilitation projects.
The attendees agreed to establish a new PO for their barangay, naming it the Halsey Integrated Association for Development (HIAD). This organization includes members from diverse groups such as women, youth, farmers, and fisherfolk.
Furthermore, the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) officials of Barangay Halsey have expressed their full support for the newly formed PO, and both CFI and BAFFA committed to conducting capacity-building activities to strengthen the new POs in Culion, ensuring they become effective partners in future projects.
