CFI administered the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the newly convened Peoples Organizations (POs) in Culion, Palawan as part of CFI’s thrust of strengthening grassroots participation in nation-building. The event held at Bayanihan Hall, Barangay Balala, Culion, Palawan, on August 20, 2024 was attended by the Trustees of CFI, led by its Chairperson and President, Mr. Alberto A. Lim and Ms. Maria Aurora F. Tolentino, respectively. One of the CFI’s Trustees and the “returning son of Culion”, Mr. Alejandro Aquino, also attended the event. From the side of the local government unit (LGU) of the municipality, members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) as well as municipal employees graced the occasion.
During the event, Mr. Lim highlighted the roles of POs in driving bottom-up approaches to attain inclusive growth and sustainable development for the municipality. Mr. Lim remarked that an “empowered PO is a strategic partner in ensuring the continuity and scalability of the Foundation’s projects on health, environment, and community development given their strong community presence, an armament of local knowledge and expertise, and shared social relationships with the
community”.
The ceremony was punctuated with the inspirational messages delivered by Ms. Tolentino, SB – Hon. Lagrosa and Hon. Alcantara, representatives of Mayor De Vera, and Mr. Aquino. The ceremonial awarding of livelihood projects to the POs and the renewal of partnership between CFI and the Culion LGU also formed part of the highlights of the ceremony.
