CFI Joins Governor Dra. Helen Tan’s Medical Mission in Polilio Islands: Screening 751 Residents for TB

Culion Foundation Inc. took part in Governor Dra. Helen Tan Medical Mission conducted in Polilio Group of Islands, Quezon Province last March 14 – 18, 2024.
The Quezon Provincial Office headed by Gov. Dra. Helen Tan gave free medical services such as medical consultation, laboratory testing, HIV testing, ultrasound, ECG, dental services, circumcision, and surgery, and dispensed free medicines. CFI provided free chest x-rays as part of its TB Active Case Finding project.
A total of 751 Panukulan, Polilio, Burdeos, Patnanungan, and Jomalig, Quezon residents were screened for tuberculosis. Polilio Group of Islands is considered a Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDAs) where “marginalized population are physically and socio-economically separated from the mainstream society”.
The medical mission was in collaboration with the Quezon Office of the Governor and Vice-Governor, Quezon Provincial Health Office, Quezon Rural Health Units, Quezon Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center, and RAKKK Prophet Medical Center, Inc.
