CFI in partnership with
Life Matters International – LMI, delivered essential maternal services to underserved pregnant mothers in the remote communities of Linapacan and Culion by capacitating midwives in the use of point-of-care Ultrasound (POCUS).
In Linapacan, the program began on September 2, 2024 at San Miguel Rural Health Unit (RHU), where 10 pregnant women were scanned using POCUS, followed by Barangays Maroyogroyog and Pical, reaching a total of 45 patients over four days. Furthermore, the second leg of the training took place in Culion, where from September 9 to 12, a total of 56 patients in far-flung barangays like Malaking Patag, Carabao, and Canimango benefited from the ultrasound services.
The training not only aims to improve the skills of the local midwives, but likewise raise awareness about the importance of ultrasound technology in improving maternal health outcomes, especially in rural areas.
