Empowering Health Care: POCUS Training and Maternal Health Initiatives in Northern Calamianes

CFI and LMI recently concluded the POCUS training done in Linapacan and Culion last May 27- June 7, 2024.

LMI and CFI capacitated nurses and midwives on the use of POCUS as part of prenatal care for pregnant mothers. From its end, LMI’s Dr. Stefan Haller provided an overview of the project to the Busuanga-Coron-Culion-Linapacan Health Zone, while CFI through Dr. Villa, presented the plans and strategies to assist in the strengthening of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) programs in Northern Calamianes.

Alongside the POCUS training, CFI provided Maternal Health Nutrition Education and free check-ups for children and adults in the Municipalities of Linapacan and Culion. The free medical check-up was able to cater to 70 patients from Brgys. Maroyogroyog and Bulawit in Linapacan and Brgy. De Carabao in Culion.

CFI’s Dr. Villa, Ms. Dolina Tabla, Senior Admin Officer and the LMI group were recognized by the Municipality of Linapacan last June 1, 2024 for their assistance in the implementation of the Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) project.
