The Culion Foundation Inc. (CFI) is joining forces with Life Matters International (LMI), a US-based global initiative medical mission project, to combat maternal mortality in the Calamianes Island Group in Palawan.
Today, Dr. Stefan Haller from LMI provided a comprehensive update to our CFI – Maternal and Child Health program staff on the progress of midwives’ training in the Municipalities of Culion and Linapacan. These midwives or “physician extenders” are participating in a capacity-building workshop focused on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Today’s meeting was also the avenue to discuss programmatic and contextual challenges, renew commitments between the two organizations, and strategize to further improve and sustain the project.
Maternal mortality remains a significant challenge in our country, and at CFI, we are determined to make a difference. Together with Life Matters International, we’re committed to making strides in ensuring the health and safety of mothers and their babies.
