Building Stronger Communities: CFI’s Peoples Organization Capacity Building Workshop
𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽
On 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 19, 2024, the Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) facilitated the Peoples Organization Capacity Building Workshop, aimed at empowering local organizations to drive community-led development and sustainable growth in Culion, Palawan. This workshop provided a platform for representatives from various Peoples Organizations (POs) to enhance their leadership skills and knowledge, making them strategic partners in the growth of the Municipality of Culion.
Key highlights of the workshop include discussions revolving around the importance of community organizing and the role organizers play in ensuring the success of grassroots initiatives. This session underscored how effective organizing can create lasting social change. The workshop also emphasized the critical role of PO officers in driving organizational success and fostering unity within their communities. To ensure accountability and transparency, participants were introduced to key policies and best practices that strengthen governance and operations in CSOs.
Furthermore, this hands-on workshop focused on equipping PO members with the skills to maintain accurate and transparent financial reports. Participants learned how to draft minutes and resolutions efficiently, an essential skill for documenting organizational decisions. Finally, interactive team-building exercises were also incorporated to strengthen camaraderie among participants.
