Wrapping Up Active Case Finding in Masbate: CFI Provides Free Chest X-rays to High-Risk Groups
𝗠𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗦, 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗘!
To finally wrap-up the Active Case Finding (ACF) in the province of Masbate, Culion Foundation, Inc. conducted free chest Xray to the residents of San Jacinto, Ticao Island, Masbate.
The ACF for the 20 municipalities and 1 city in Masbate ran from February 01 to March 15, 2024. As of writing, 𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 6,528 Masbateños availed the free chest X-ray. The ACF specifically catered to the members of the community that belong to the high-risk group including Senior Citizens, Patients with a history of TB, Household Contacts of TB Patients, Drivers (Tricycle, Jeepney etc.), People diagnosed with hypertension or diabetes, Immunocompromised population, Smokers, People living in congregate settings, and urban and rural poor (confirmed indigents, 4Ps members, sponsored PhilHealth Members, etc.) In April, the Bicol CFI team will be conducting the ACF in the Provinces of Catanduanes and Camarines Sur.
The Active TB Case Finding aims to deliver systematic screening by providing free x-rays and sputum tests to targeted populations which are at a higher risk of developing TB. Its ultimate goal is to identify individuals with TB to prompt initiation of treatment and provide awareness, control, and prevention activities to the community. The ACF in the Bicol region is being carried out by Culion Foundation, Inc. in collaboration with the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health and Development, Provincial Health Offices, respective Local Government Units and Rural/City Health Units in the Region.
