Culion Foundation Inc., in partnership with Region IV-A, conducted a TB in the Workplace Capacity-Building Workshop last November 17-18, 2022 at Crosswinds Resorts Suite in Tagaytay. This is the first in a series of workshops conducted by the TB in the Workplace Team aimed to addressing tuberculosis in workplaces through information dissemination, formation of a social and behavior change communication plan and through policy formulation.

A total of 26 cluster groups participated composed of market vendors, TODAs and transport cooperatives, indigenous people, microfinance groups, traffic enforcers, construction and manufacturing companies. The initiative allows informal and high-risk sectors to acknowledge TB as a public health concern that needs addressing and help in eliminating misconceptions, stigma, and discrimination against people with TB.

Serving as resource speakers during the event were representatives from the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Lusog Baga, Breathe Free PH, Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, and Evident.

As CFI’s TB in the Workplace workshops continue to gain momentum, the impact on affected communities becomes increasingly apparent. By educating and empowering cluster groups across different regions, CFI is fostering a culture of awareness and responsible action against TB. With the invaluable support of like-minded organizations and government agencies, CFI’s initiative is making meaningful strides towards achieving a TB-free workplace, ultimately enhancing public health for all.
